Modelling of Variable Renewable Energy

Topic 1: Stochastic Modelling of VRES in TIMES.

Dr. Pernille Seljom, IFE (Norway) presented an approach which models the short-term uncertainty of the generation of VRES explicitly, and thus provides results that capture the need for flexibility.

Topic 2: Modelling high VRES with hourly TS resolution, unit commitment, dispatch and capacity expansion in TIMES.

Dr. James Glynn, MaREI (Ireland) presented an explicit modelling approach for the hourly variations of wind, solar and hydro, integrated with the unit commitment constraints of dispatchable fossil generation power plants balanced with short term and long-term demand variations with capacity expansion.
