Armenia Least Cost Energy Development Plan 2020-2036

In 2019, Armenia updated its LeastCost Energy Development Plan (LCEDP) for 2020–2036 to guide the country’s longterm energy strategy. Using the TIMESArmenia model, the analysis evaluated options for meeting future energy needs and found that solar and wind offered the most costeffective new electricity generation, given Armenia’s excellent solar resource and declining technology costs. Initial projections suggested very high renewable capacity by 2036, but through consultations with national stakeholders, more practical renewable targets were set to reflect implementation capacity, infrastructure needs, and realistic construction timelines. These updated targets became the Baseline Reference scenario for future energy planning.
