Energy balance in MARKAL - Saika Anjum - 11-05-2023 Hello I have a query regarding MARKAL Model. 1. MARKAL balances energy supply and demand. But in the MARKAL results I am getting coal consumption more than coal supply. I wanted to know where could be the problem? 2. While running BASE CASE without any alternate scenario, there is an error but when I am running it along with alternate scenario the results are optimal. What could be the problem? RE: Energy balance in MARKAL - Antti-L - 12-05-2023 Thanks for your question. I hope some MARKAL expert can help you. Note, however, that already in 2008 the ETSAP executive committee decided to promote TIMES for new users, instead of MARKAL. TIMES is the successor of MARKAL as the main energy systems modeling tool of ETSAP. > While running BASE CASE without any alternate scenario, there is an error but when I am running it along with alternate scenario the results are optimal. What could be the problem? Which kind of error is that? Could you perhaps post the listing file (*.LST, zipped) from the BASE CASE that results in the error, to see if one can help with diagnosing the error on the basis of what is logged by GAMS in the listing file? The problem is not in identifying the type or location of error . I wanted to know how is it possible that when the base case which has error (when run separately) but the results are optimal when run along with the alternate scenario. RE: Energy balance in MARKAL - Antti-L - 12-05-2023 Ok, thanks. But I think that in order to know how it is possible that the base case has an error, while the alternate scenario works fine, one would in the first place need to know what that error is... ![]() |
