xl2times Future Development and Maintenance

The xl2times Future Development and Maintenance project (RC-2024-08_GEMA_006) delivered major upgrades to the xl2times tool, enhancing its accuracy, performance, and usability. Over the 2024–2025 period, the project expanded benchmarking to include large-scale models such as TIMES-GEO and TIMES-NZ, achieving full accuracy for New Zealand and 4–5× faster performance on GEO through parallel processing. A new Python-style API and Jupyter Notebook workflow were introduced to support transparent and reproducible scenario analyses. The project also improved community engagement and onboarding, with 11 fixed issues, 79 merged pull requests, and a new getting started guide accompanying the latest release (v0.3.0) available on GitHub and PyPI.
