MODELLING RESSOURCES
ETSAP Final Reports
Since its creation in 1980, ETSAP has documented its work through periodic reports. In the early years, these were issued every three years as Final Reports, each covering a full work programme (call Annex). Today, they take the form of Annual Reports, providing a year-by-year record of model developments, applications, capacity-building, and collaborations.
Each report typically covers:
- Strategic decision making with TIMES modelling – how national teams and international institutions use TIMES to inform energy and climate policies.
- Insights from national teams on energy challenges – a selection of peer-reviewed studies and policy case studies across countries and regions.
- Capacity building – summaries of workshops, trainings, webinars, and materials that strengthen the modelling community.
- Sophisticated models and methodologies – updates on the TIMES model generator, source code development, and methodological enhancements.
- Collaboration with high-profile organisations – partnerships with IEA, IRENA, and other Technology Collaboration Programmes, as well as international projects.
These reports provide a unique record of more than four decades of work on the development and application of the MARKAL/TIMES family of models, as well as the broader contributions of ETSAP to global energy and climate policy.
