Ireland 2024
State of the Environment Report

TIMES modelling was a key analytical input for the State of the Environment Report 2024, published by Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This comprehensive national report assesses the condition of Ireland’s environment—air, water, soil, biodiversity—and examines the pressures society places upon it. Produced every four years, the report is a vital resource for informing policy, guiding environmental action, and raising public awareness.
In the 2024 edition, the model was used to explore energy system dynamics and decarbonization pathways, strengthening the evidence base for multiple chapters. The report’s thematic and sectoral assessments—including those covering energy, transport, and climate—were enhanced by the structured and scenario-based insights made possible through modelling with TIMES.
